For 19 years of my life, damn I feel old, I've had my fair shares of having a rock band of my own. Starting from Slipshot, Synaptula, Scarlet Soul and a couple of other bands which never manage to make up a name, I came to realise that they're all just a way of spending our free time. Definitely, they were never meant to be serious. At least, for me.

Being able to wield the guitar for the first time, I never truly appreciate it, nor understand what am I suppose to fulfill with it. I knew, and well, was pretty confident, that I will never even make it in the music industry.

Just a lil bit of history about being in a band for me, I started to play the bass riff on a GUITAR, yeah sucks, for the talentime in secondary school. Miraculously we won. I still got the trophy. Then Slipshot came about, and we started rocking to Blink, Sum 41 and Offspring. After we all graduated, the band broke up only to get back together for a one time project, Connect and our band was called Synaptula. This being made up with 3/4 of the previous band plus 3 more people. Quite big for a band. This set up somehow stayed permanent, cept for the departure of two members and replaced by a single lead guitarist. This final set up, Sazali on the drums, Hafiz on the Rhythm, Mahathir on the Lead(different Mahathir, not that lame Mahathir from KSS either), Me on the bass and Farhan on the mike, somehow made me believe we could have made it. We were rocking to MCR, The Used. I felt we were great though.

Then it broke up, due to Mahathir's graduation, Hafiz's increasing commitment with school, Farhan's displeasure to the direction the band is going and a couple of other things running at the background which I don't know of.

I wasn't angry. I was just disappointed. Though even if everything about Scarlet Soul is yesterday's story, I cherished all the competitions we went through and tried. We had a fantastic vocal, a creative lead guitarist, an aspiring drummer, a consistent rhythm and a fashion disaster bassist(which is me).

Breaking up, in any form of way, hurts. But I'd rather remember the memories than the pain. In hope that some day, in the future, if by chance we met each other again, we could still rock on together still.
