"kiite hoshii uta ga aru yo, itsuka iitakatta kotoba ga aru yo" Ok fine, I'm going Japanese today cause I spent the whole night, well you can call it morning since its was after 1 am, watching loads of Japanese dramas and movies such as Waterboys (Drama), Waterboys the Movie, The Messenger and Battle Royale. Yearp, I got myself to watch Battle Royale. Honestly speaking, I don't really feel that movie was gorish enough as I had expected. Seriously, its like they're being shot but just red splotches appearing on their shirt. They censored out the decapitated part, ok maybe not censored, more like shift to another scene immediately and well, basically alot of people got shot. So the best weapon was still a gun. Considering the main character had a stupid pot lid and his love of his life has a frigging binoculars. Shrugs. I mean sure this movie was so old, even to the point that I got reminded a time Pong was saying the movie was funny. To a certain extent, it was funny. Why? Cause there were a couple of scene where the victim just wouldn't die. I mean, theres like almost 10 bullets lodged in your body, and you still have a knack to stand up and try to hit back. Ok the funniest part was when the teacher woke up from being shot, answered a call, ate a frigging cookie and only then, he died. I mean, man he must have a very, very high resistance to pain. Resistance? Yearp, the word was at the tip of my tounge but I can't seem to find it. Though you know what I mean right? Overall, the whole experience was rather mellow. Was rather expecting very, very gruesome death, but what I got was rather mediocre execution of killing. Not really that gorish, but seeing the main character, Shuya, played by the same person who played Light in Death Note was rather refreshing. He oughta play in more nice guy character, I mean his face look too innocent to play as some mastermind god-wannabe genius as potrayed in Death Note. Anyway, what's with those phrases at the start of the post? Well, while trying my hands on a drama called Waterboys, the opening song brought me back memories of when I was in secondary school. I mean seriously, Pong ALWAYS give me a song and me growing attached to the song. So hearing back was rather nostalgic. It's called Niji by Fukuyama Masaharu. Where Niji actually means Rainbow. Oh well, while I'm at it, might as well make you listen to it. Anyway, fine I know that I might sound like those people who are trying so hard to grasp a culture just because I immerse in their creative works. Ok fine, by creative works means their Japanese Animations and PS2 games (and their predecessor, the PS). Most people would jump straigt to saying that I'm an otaku, which means for someone who's obsessed with something, be it Gundam Figurines, or collectibles. I'd like to shed light to this issue though cause I see no reason why I should be ashame on my appreciation to the Japanese Creative Works. I won't say its art cause its definitely not mean to keep and sold on a frigging museum. Be it whether we're trying to resist this Japanese culture onslaught that is taking over our cartoon slots, I don't really mind. I mean, I'd rather appreciate an asian work of art than a Western work of art. Fine, its not that I have anything against western arts, its just that they've monopolize our screentime and merchandises for far too long. I for one as an asian am proud to support the product of fellow asian counterparts. Just my take on this issue. Though the low down is, I just felt that some Japanese animes have much more realistic and emotional value compared to some Western cartoons or drama that I've come across. The fact that some Western dramas just go on and on and on till they couldn't think of anymore ideas. So that's it for today's post on the Japanese cultures. I mean, everyones wants to try going to London, New York or Paris. What's wrong with saying that I want to try going to Tokyo? Matter of preference guys.
